A Storytelling Competition
- Choose a Theme:
- Describe a moment when the language barrier made you feel invisible or misunderstood. How did you overcome it, and what did that experience teach you about your voice, resilience, and identity?
- Tell us about a dream you hold for your future—whether it’s a career, a passion, or a personal goal. How are you working toward it, and how has thinking, speaking, or even dreaming in English shaped your path?
2. Format Your Essay:
- Minimum 1000 words
- 12pt font, double spaced
- Please have a mentor or friend proofread your essay before submitting.
3. Official Contest Rules:
- Participants must be born outside of the United States and be 18 years of age or older.
- Submission dates are from August 6th, 2025 to October 20th 2025.
- All essays must be submitted before or on Monday, October 20, 2025 for consideration.
- If you have entered the contest before, you may do so again. However, if you have previously won, we congratulate you, but you are excluded from this year’s prizes.

Prizes You Could Win:
The five (5) contest winners will be notified on Friday October 31, 2025 as follows:

- 1st prize winner will receive: $500 cash award
- 2nd prize winner will receive: $300 cash award
- 3rd prize winner will receive: $200 cash award
- 2 Honorary mentions will receive: $100 cash award
