A Message from Board Chair, Dr. George Sehi

I take pleasure in presenting you another edition of CARE, the official publication of Women Walking West (W3).
As a non-profit organization we are and should be focused on our mission and the growing demand for the services we provide for foreign-born women who are residing in the United States. While mapping a long term plan for W3 is necessary for fulfilling our mission, it would be detrimental if we ignore our short term plan and how it meets the immediate needs of the population we serve.

I am proud to announce that we have assisted 85 women from 23 different countries since the inception of our organization in June 2015. To sustain and grow our organization, we must continue generating funds to serve even more women. To that end, I am very pleased to inform you of our upcoming Inaugural Gala which will be held on Thursday, November 1, 2018. I am pleased that Mrs. Dena Cranley, City of Cincinnati First Lady, and Mr. Tom Daskalakis, Chief Administrative Officer at West Chester Hospital, will serve as our gala co-chairs. I am also delighted that The Honorable Judge Marilyn Zayas, first Latina elected to an Ohio Court of Appeals, will be the keynote speaker. I sincerely hope you will join us on November 1st to support our important mission and the many individuals we serve. Meeting the needs of foreign-born women, at a time when there are tremendous shortages of resources for pursuing their educational goals, creates a daunting challenge for the Women Walking West Board. Having said that, we must be responsible for the growing number of women who are coming to us desperate for academic, financial and other related educational support.

On behalf of Women Walking West, I would like to express my sincere appreciation and gratitude to our board of directors, donors, mentors and all volunteer staff who are working so diligently to make a difference in the lives of those whom we serve, one woman at a time.
